Surprise ending as Taj Groups terminates 14-year management of Dubai hotel

In a surprise move, the famed Taj Group of the Tatas has ended its management pact with the 14-room Taj Palace hotel in Deira, Dubai.

The chain has been managing the hotel for 14 years since 2001.

While no reason was given for this termination of partnership, this correspondent learned that it is part of the Taj management’s policy of streamlining operations, especially abroad, as it exited from its hotel in Morocco recently.

The Dubai hotel has been renamed Jood Palace.

The Mumbai-based Taj Group has in recent years being adding and subtracting its presence in other parts of the world. In India also exercise in administration changes has taken place, both for better management and to cut losses.

The Taj hotel in Dubai has now been given back to the owners, Juma Al Majid Group.
